How to Plan a Temperature Blanket Without Falling Behind
Share
A temperature blanket converts weather data into colour, usually one row or motif per date. The system matters more than the number of colours.
Define the data before the yarn
Choose location, measurement, daily value and source. Decide whether you will record the high, low, average or another clearly defined figure. Save the data regularly rather than relying on memory.
Create a usable colour key
Review the location's likely range and divide it into intervals that create meaningful variation. Choose distinguishable yarn colours with compatible fibre, weight and care. Keep a labeled sample card.
Estimate the finished size
Work and wash a multi-row swatch, then multiply row height by the number of planned days. Daily rows can make a very long blanket, so consider narrower stitches, weekly motifs or multiple panels. Schedule a weekly catch-up session and weave ends at set intervals.
Keep this in mind
Fix the data rules and colour key first, calculate the full dimensions from a swatch and record values on a sustainable schedule.
