Suzette Stitch: How to Keep the Texture Balanced
Share
Suzette stitch typically places two different-height stitches in one location, then skips the next stitch. That grouping creates compact texture without a complicated repeat.
Confirm the pattern's version
A common repeat is single crochet and double crochet in the same stitch, skip one. Turning chains, starting multiples and row ends vary, so read the specific setup before applying the familiar rhythm.
Use the group as one unit
After completing both stitches in the same base, identify and skip exactly one stitch. Look for the next open base stitch rather than counting the two new stitch tops as separate placement points.
Keep the side sequence stable
Mark the first group and final edge stitch. At the row end, count complete groups and compare them with the previous row. If the fabric leans, check whether the turning chain is being treated consistently and whether the final group lands where the pattern expects.
Keep this in mind
Think in two-stitch groups, skip one base after each group and document the edge treatment from the first row.
